Feb 20, 2010 - I just bought one, fantastic lense, together with my canon 40d wow,

Feb 21, 2010 - Yeah I love mine. It does take practice to use and a tripod to take full advantage of it. The picture quality on this one is supposed to be the same as the new "l" version that they released.

Feb 23, 2010 - The L version has image stabilization but it's twice as expensive. In some time I would like a macro lens but i'm not sure if the L version is worth the extra price over this one. I've seen image comparison and it's so close. Is this a ring type USM though or is it micro USM?

Mar 21, 2010 - You do not have to use a tripod all the time in macro. You may have more problems with wind on your objects outdoors, however...just get your ISO up a bit, get the best out of your lens...like one stop down, or more, and experiment. The L lens is going to help you even more. It's worth it. Just hire a guard...

Apr 3, 2010 - $450 is cheap compared to the L one ($1000 bucks on amazon) but if you think about it 600 is a good price for a good quality lens. I want to buy this one and the 135mm f/2 L soon. One more wedding in April and they're mine :D lol
CreativeOutletHobbie mowi:
Apr 5, 2010 - @IntensePizza yep, I'm' also hearing there isn't much image quality difference between the L and standard, build quality yes.

May 1, 2010 - i bought the first generation 100macro. it was as good as L. the lens work data and chart proved it, as well as the actual results. but few people knew it. now it's discovered at last.
Cdeleon625 mowi:
May 15, 2010 - Although it is not a L series Lens, it's capable of having a softmat filter because of the size of filter diameter which is 58mm than the L series that is 67mm...any opinion on this one...
CreativeOutletHobbie mowi:
May 15, 2010 - @Cdeleon625 interesting. I've never used one of those.

May 21, 2010 - I"ve been looking at this lens. Will probably get it tomorrow. I was going to get an 85mm F1.8 but I think I will try and kill 2 birds with one stone and get this (and lose a tad of speed) but also have the Macro. I've got the 50mm macro which is not 1:1, but its served me until now.

Jun 10, 2010 - I've got the new L version of the 100mm macro 2.8 and I love it! If you chose this one you will miss the the three step focus and the stabilization. The L version has improved very! With the new one you do not need a tripod! All I can say is go for the L one!!!

Jul 12, 2010 - Hi, great vid.im just getting into macro, i currently own a eos 500d. would you reccomed the 60mm or the 100mm, cost isnt an issue. its more on the aps-c side of things.

Jul 13, 2010 - Oh no an UV Filter on this lens.
Pistolero1983 mowi:
Jul 24, 2010 - anything i should look out for other than mould when buying a new one?
CreativeOutletHobbie mowi:
Jul 24, 2010 - @Pistolero1983 if you can test it in a store do so.. bring your camera along and double check how fast and accurate the focus is.
CreativeOutletHobbie mowi:
Jul 24, 2010 - @fgndngv more for protection
CreativeOutletHobbie mowi:
Jul 24, 2010 - @shwingam my camera is full-frame so 100mm is okay for me. It really depends on what you are going to shoot. Stable objects on a table then the 60mm is prob okay. Insects / moving subjects then maybe the 100mm
CreativeOutletHobbie mowi:
Jul 24, 2010 - @timmety2000 Do you think its worth an upgrade from the 100mm non-l.?
fgndngv mowi:
Jul 24, 2010 - @CreativeOutletHobbie Yes but what do you do with it?You get protection with more reflections, ghosts, flaresSo I prefer a lens hood.
ChaosRiddenReaper mowi:
Jul 25, 2010 - @fgndngv i thought uv lens was to decrease the flares and reflections not get more??
fgndngv mowi:
Jul 26, 2010 - @ChaosRiddenReaper No you get more. It is simple physics.Glass always reflect a bit light. So you get light trouth the filter on the lens but a bit will be reflected under the filter the filter reflect it too. This from the filter reflectet light is a halo
ChaosRiddenReaper mowi:
Jul 26, 2010 - @fgndngv ok i see, i just got my first slr camera other day so im learning, im new to all this.

Feb 8, 2010 - This lens would be great for your Xsi yes. You would be around 160mm because of the 1.6 crop factor. Ive tried this lens on an xsi and it produced amazing pictures.
