She doesn't have a choice in that just like you don't. Besides the character of Ariel was played by an American in the film. So it makes sense they would choose another for Broadway.

Jul 22, 2010 - @The123wicked Now to me that sounds far more ridiculous. Having them on wires and swaying about would just look corney. I'm so glad they went with the route of Heely's where they can glide and dance. I personally also love the costume. It creates the illusion of being underwater and the nature of swimming. In fact I love how the creative team took a more unconventional approach to this production. It has the Disney/fantasy appeal in it's visuals. The other route is too common & cheap.
